Lundin Malia Chapman

Nature vs. Nurture, It is an age-old discussion. For graphic artist Lundin, the argument is moot. Her designs are the happy alchemy of her birthplace, education, home, family and inspirational surroundings.

Born in sunny Maui and raised under California’s blue coastal skies, Lundin unsurprisingly has always been motivated by the natural world around her and moved by her internal response to it. Lundin’s upfront and optimistic character is reflected in her designs, which incorporate sinuous lines and clear, contemporary use of colors. Her independent and declarative style attracts attention, admiration and curiosity.

Following her graduation from SDSU with a BA in Art, Graphic Design Emphasis, Lundin dove into freelance assignments, creating flyers and advertisements for local coastal businesses. Employment with the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce exposed her to the art of page layout and sharpened her skills at ad design. The lucky City of Carlsbad also benefited from Lundin’s fresh approach to workaday topics. Further career opportunities developed her skills in package design, tattoo design, large-format graphics, logos and company branding.

Currently, Lundin continues to cast her delightful, artistic spell as she divides her time and multiplies her talents across a variety of creative endeavors. She lends her design expertise to the City of Alexandria, Virginia, shaping the informative and engaging communications of the City Priorities Newsletter. Beyond that, she brings thoughtful design to meaningful projects, from formatting Stella’s Two Homes—a must-have children's book for parents navigating divorce or separation—to crafting engaging educational curriculums and study guides. Her design reach even extends to the art of everyday living, creating charming product labels for homemade sauerkraut, kombucha, and baked goods.
